I am hearing a lot of how “amazing” I am along with,” How do you do it?” And of course,”You go girl!”

Let me correct some of you. I am NOT amazing.. My family is!!  My family is having to put up with quick meals, doing more around the house (even the 6yr old who is the youngest), and a witchy mom.

I am NOT amazing, I am ALLOWED…  All my kids are in public school (which I despise because I am homeschooler at heart). My husband has preferred that I stay at home with the kids while they were itty bitty. I agreed and this worked for us. (please working mom’s, don’t take that as an insult, we all do what is best for us and our families).

We have eaten more frozen meals, pre-made hamburger patties, and boxed meals in the past 2 weeks then we have in the past 15 years!!!   

THEY are AMAZING for putting up with me and ALLOWING me to do this.

As for how I do it? I sleep walk a lot

As my kids start the school year that now starts in summer instead of fall I am reminded of my school days. I was a Girl of Fall.

I was a cheerleader in middle school and in the drum and bugle corp in high school. 20 years since I have been in high school and I can still hear the crowds and smell the smells.

Climbing on top of the pyramid because I was the tiniest girl. (barely 80 pounds).

The ache in my calf after hours of marching practice. Hearing the crowd clap as we march off the field. Most likely glad because we were getting off the field.

My freshman year I marched in the Fiesta parade that no one was prepared for how long it would be. It was so hot too!!  Gotta love south Texas in the summer! I can still hear the giggles from a group of 30 girls. Going to the Magic Time machine restaurant and having the Orgy meal.   I had no clue what an “orgy” even was at 15!!  The older girls that new got a kick out of laughing at us.

I live in small town Texas. High school football is our way of life. Those boys and girls of fall work hard for what they do. It will only be a fleeting memory in a matter of a few short years.  Help them make the best of it. If you can, go out and support your local high school team!  BUY at the snack stand, that money goes to the booster club.

Enjoy the hard work of your local Boys and Girls of Fall.

The other classes were “easy” today. The instructors are nice and seem to want to know their students and help them too. You just have to speak up.  (Isn’t that what I tell my kids when it comes to their own class work too?)

Of course I am the nerdy kid that tries to sit up front or at least in the middle of the room where the teacher is most likely to look the most often. The noticed student often does better. I am not afraid to ask questions. How else will I know? I am not afraid to answer out loud either, even if it is wrong. How else will I learn?

I am surprised by how exhausted I feel though. Physically and mentally. I hope that next week I will have a better routine down and start to feel more ‘at home’ with my new life’s schedule.

I stumble into the kitchen and press the button to get my coffee in my cup. On the way back to the bathroom I knock on kids doors to wake them up. I put on my make-up, holler at a kid, do my hair, do my daughter’s hair, make breakfast for the kids that want it, make sure hubby is fed, and pack my lunch.

I kiss 3 kids and hubby good-bye as the high schooler gets in the car at 7:15 am to be dropped off at school on the way to my new job.

 I drop the kid off, drive 15 minutes, find a parking spot, and find a seat in my first meeting of the day. I listen and take notes, ask questions. All the employees are asked to do projects and told what needs to be done.

On to the next meeting.. Grab a protein bar between meetings.. No time for a real lunch. I am thankful for the apple and cheese I packed and ice cold water.

Finish up the meetings for the day and pick up the kids..  Figure out what’s for supper.. get kids fed, bathed, their homework done, a load of laundry washed and dried, kids put to bed.. 

Alarm set to start all over again.

BUT going to college isn’t a full time job…..

5 1/2 stars!!

This is the 2nd book in the Abhorsen Trilogy. We learn about the Daughter’s of the Clayr, where they live, how their lives are, and how Lirael is raised. Her dreams, her magic, her own doubts as she attempts to take her own life.

The library is an amazing place full of magic, some good, some not so good. She sneaks into places she really shouldn’t be. And when she does get caught…..  You will have to find out for yourself!

Another AMAZING read from Garth Nix.  5 1/2 stars!!

This is the first book in the Abhorsen Trilogy. You are pulled into the life of Sabriel. You are pulled into death and learn a bit about the Charter. Unlike most magic Charter has it’s rules. During all three books Mr. Nix follows those rules. You will be seeing Charter Marks in your dreams and wondering what happens to Sabriel.

I give this one 5 1/2 stars!  The BEST fantasy book I have read in a long time.
